Owners - The Team

“This town is beautiful enough for the Queen to live in”. History has not recorded who in 1860 said those words which gave the name Queenstown to a gold mining canvas town situated idyllically at the head of Lake Wakatipu. Many suggest the honour should go to William Gilbert Rees, pioneer sheep farmer and the area’s first European settler. History repeats. Once again the name Rees has assumed significant prominence in the community of Queenstown. Befitting a man remembered for his strength of character and his humanity, The Rees Hotel Queenstown has become an address recognised for the environmental harmony of its design and construction, and for enhancing the lifestyles of those who stay there.
